Family Thrift Center Receipts

Thank you to all who are saving receipts when shopping at Family Thrift stores and bringing them to Unity of the Black Hills.  We have gathered more than $74,600 toward our goal of $150,000.  Please continue to save your receipts and turn them in.

Thank you to Nancy Bolyard, Ev Merritt, and Stu Steele for adding the totals.  When we have received a total of $150,000 in receipts, the church will receive a check for $1,000 from the home office of the Family Thrift Stores.

Stagebarn School Backpack Program

We are participating again in the Stagebarn School Backpack for kids program. This program sends easy to make meals for children that may have no outlet for meals on the weekend.

We can share our abundance by helping our neighbors and friends that may be less fortunate at this time.

Requested Items Include: Fruit cups, instant mac and cheese, small juices, puddings, instant soups, individual wrapped nuts etc.  Bring donated items to church - there are bins in the front entrance under the Welcome Table.

Unity Church of the Black Hills
Where People Come to Grow and Share Their Spiritual Journey!

Under Development....

The church is considering ideas for raising funds to complete the sidewalk expansion in front of the church and to build a retaining wall that is proposed to hide the septic system on the east side of the church was held.  Several projects and fundraisers that are currently in the planning stages and tentatively include the following proposals:

Since the large sewage culverts in front of the church cannot be disturbed, a wall was discussed. There are also some issues with drainage and the sump pump that are in the process of being worked out. Some concrete will be removed and new concrete poured. The sidewalk will be  expended a little bit also on the east end of the church. The ground with soil remaining can have shrubs, trees and flowers planted eventually. The project is estimated to cost from $1000-$1200.

Fund raising ideas currently include:
  • A Unity Yard Sale for June 13th
  • Eric Sutton has volunteered to govern a rock climbing day on a pledge for   "climbing" system. He will do a presentation within the next few weeks.
  • Jim Gardiner has offered to teach a class titled "Sharpening the Mind." It will run three weeks for two hours each time - a donation will be requested - This class will likely take place in June.
  • Any additional love offerings dedicated toward this project are greatly appreciated.
Thanks go out to all for their ideas, energies and support!
